Since 2008, mcr has had a presence in PNG with two offices in Port Moresby and a fully manned Network Operations Centre. mcr has purpose built a full NOC for monitoring and management of its clients' infrastructure and business applications.

The main office employs a total of five staff locally (three sales staff and two engineering staff). The second location is a permanent technical support team within one of mcr’s major client's offices – evidencing of the level of commitment mcr offer their clients in order to meet their individual needs.

These teams ensure that all servicing and call-outs are handled locally and with maximum speed, minimising the impact of IT issues on their clients' businesses.

They have successfully gained several market leading clients some of whom include Telikom PNG, Bank of South Pacific, PNG Ports, Kina Securities, Teacher’s Credit Union and OK Tedi Mining – all big players in their individual fields and an indication of the calibre of client mcr are working with every day. Future plans expect to see further growth in the Asia-Pacific Region and beyond – based on the model of success implemented in the home market of Australia.

Telikom PNG Reference

mcr were awarded the task of designing and implementing Telikom’s new ISP Infrastructure for delivering Information Technology Services to the customers of Telikom PNG.

The solution encompassed a number of aspects from infrastructure design, procurement, implementation and commissioning at a hardware and OS level to working with the vendors of applications like their billing systems and ensures a smooth installation and transition into the new environment.

mcr delivered a Virtualisation Solution built on VMware vSphere 4.0 and Dell Blade Hardware. mcr implemented the suite of Microsoft Back Office software from Windows 2008 Active Directory, Exchange 2007, patch management, antivirus and data management for backup. mcr also implement ISP specific application which allows Telikom to manage the customer moving forward.

"mcr conducted an investigation into building on top of our existing VMware Infrastructure by consolidating the remainder of our physical Windows Servers Infrastructure into VMware based Virtual Machine instances. mcr advised that by decreasing physical server utilisation, it would lower our overall hardware footprint and associated running costs, this project was completed in September 2010.

Our environment has given us a return on investment and now we can manage our Virtual machines with features such as High Availability, V-Motion. Since that project, we signed a third level support agreement with mcr and have continued to renew this contract which is now on its 2nd year, we have found we love working with mcr and they are always available via email, telephone or their service desk. We receive our monthly reports every month and are impressed with their recommendations.
